Regarding Shot Peening, Jack Champaigne is a recognized expert in this field and also has done extensive work with standardization processes in the SAE.
In the latest issue of The Shot Peener Magazine, Mr. Champaigne discusses his meetings with Dr Robert J. Connor from Purdue University and with Julien Jeanneau, COO of Empowering Technologies Inc.
Professor Robert Conner is one the the authors of “Fatigue Life Improvement of Welded Girders with Ultrasonic Impact Treatment” (to be found here) and Julien Jeanneau loaned the equipment for Needle Peening to Purdue. The long-term study led to prove that equipment manufactured by Empowering Technologies is accepted as a reliable option for UIT application. AASHTO LRFD Bridge Construction Specifications” was modified as such in the 2020 Interim Revisions released in September of 2019.
