Infrared Welding for Thermoplastics

The infrared welding technology (IR welding) is another welding technology used for thermoplastics assembly. IR welding is a non-contact technique and makes it possible to weld large parts with complex geometries or flexible materials.

IR joining goes beyong the limits of hot plate welding through focused radiation fusion. Contactless, this weld is therefore pollution-free, air-tight, it does not alter the color of the parts and does not clog the heating tool.

The concentration of heat is made only on the welding point, the power consumption is up to 10 times lower than a traditional system.

As a result, the thermoplastic infrared welding allows the welding of a very wide range of parts (reservoir for brake fluid, hose, filter …).

Advantages of the Infrared Welding Process :

  • Infrared rays allow a targeted and reproducible heating zone, facilitating the automation of the process
  • Infrared rays heat the surfaces of plastics very quickly (a few seconds)
  • The infrared rays allow to benefit from an extreme precision on edges, angles or even corners of your part.
  • The IR joining is very aesthetic. Indeed, the transfer of heat is done without contact, with no pollution on the heating source.
