The hot plate welding process, also known as mirror welding, is a contact-based technique where plastic parts are placed against a heated plate coated with a non-adhesive surface. This prevents molten materials from sticking during the heating phase. After heating, the parts are mechanically assembled and allowed to cool under axial load, ensuring strong and precise joints. This method is ideal for large parts, complex geometries, and flexible materials.
On the other hand, infrared plastic welding is a non-contact technique that uses focused infrared radiation to heat plastic surfaces before joining. This technology eliminates direct contact, reducing contamination risks and preserving the color and structural integrity of the components. Infrared welding also improves energy efficiency, consuming up to ten times less power than traditional systems.
